Brown the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp.
Using a slotted spoon, remove the bacon and set aside, reserving 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease in the skillet.
Add the onion and bell pepper to the skillet and sauté until tender.
Stir in the okra and rice, cooking for 1-2 minutes to lightly toast the rice.
Add the seasonings and broth, then bring to a simmer.
Cover and cook for about 15 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
Return the bacon to the skillet and stir to combine.
Serve warm.
