Preheat oven to 350°F
Slice elk sausage links into thin rounds (about ¼ inch thick)
Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook sausage slices until browned (and fully cooked if raw)
Sprinkle 1–2 tbsp Garlic Butter Rub over the sausage while cooking
Slice Hawaiian rolls in half (keep them connected) and place the bottom half in a baking dish
Layer the cooked sausage evenly over the rolls
Add Colby Jack cheese slices on top
Place the top buns on
Mix melted butter with remaining Garlic Butter Rub and brush over the tops
Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted and tops are golden
